JingLu Zhao combines figuration and landscape, making contemporary oil paintings about her cross-cultural family and their identity as they navigate the world. Born in China, JingLu received MFA degrees in both China and Japan, then taught visual art at Chengdu University until she moved to Canada in 2013. Here her experience of raising children with Chinese and First Nations heritage has become one of the central themes of her paintings.
