Description
“Fermenting Excess Cucumbers” by Madeleine Greenway is a silkscreen print on Stonehenge paper. It blends simple shapes with intricate details and showcases the artist’s value of caring for one another through the shared experience of food. A large jar of pickles becomes a metaphor for the nurturing bonds formed when we come together over nourishment of all kinds. In this original print, Madeleine Greenway invites you to celebrate the beauty of human connection and the importance of giving and receiving.
An original print is an artwork that has been manually created and printed on a printing press by an artist. It is not a reproduction of an original. Each piece is handcrafted in its own right.
Silkscreen, or screen printing, is a technique for surface printing. The artist cuts a design out of paper or another thin, strong material. Then she rubs, rolls, or sprays the ink through the cut-out areas to make the print. The name came from the fine-mesh silk or other fabric that, when tacked to a wooden frame, serves as a support for the stencil fastened to it. Stonehenge paper is a 100% cotton paper with a deckled edge made specifically for use by artists.
