Description
In “Palliser Hike 5” by Edie Marshall, place and memory are at the forefront. As with other artworks in the artist’s abstract Moving Landscape painting series, imagery in this painting is drawn from both what we experience and what we remember or imagine about that experience. Edie’s original source drawings, made on site, are layered in the studio with gestural marks and shapes, loosening an adherence to faithful representation. We join the artist is stopping our own constant movement so we can to appreciate what is now.
