Description
“Still Life with Bell and Blue Bowl” by Betsy Rosenwald shows us a still life artwork made beautiful by the artist’s attention to what’s in it. A bell, three bowls, and three stones are scattered across a surface in apparently no order. Yet as we look more closely, we see the rhythms created by space. Against a background and and foreground of loose monochrome drawing, the objects establish a meaning of their own.
“Still Life with Bell and Blue Bowl” by Betsy Rosenwald is drawn with charcoal and pastels on Stonehenge paper. Stonehenge paper was created in 1974 specifically as a 100% cotton deckled paper for the printmaking community. Made to rival the more expensive European mouldmade papers, it was quickly adopted not just by printmakers, but by artists across working in a broad spectrum of media.
