From 2.9 Billion Birds Series
“The birds on view here are part of an ongoing project by that was begun in 2019 by artist Dawna Rose and myself, in response to research showing that almost 3 billion North American birds have vanished since 1970. We use post-consumer waste to highlight the habitat loss, climate change, and general eco-system collapse that has caused a decline in even the most common species. I try to paint birds that I see during the course of my daily life, the ones that we may easily take for granted.”
From Floating Universe Series
“My earliest work was defined by the parameters of expressionist figuration, with its embrace of loose, dreamlike imagery. In the series represented here, ambiguous anatomical, biological and mechanical forms prod the unconscious to seek out subliminal connections.”
