Cory Chad is a painter based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where she was born and still lives. Her love of still life, arranging inanimate, everyday objects, is the inspiration or starting point for many of her paintings. Exploring the beauty of de-saturated colour and line, Cory finds the balance between representation and abstraction by applying, scraping, re-applying, and drawing into oil paint. The firm surfaces of cradled wood panel and Arches oil paper are well-suited to the way she works. Her art is an invitation to question.
Cory Chad has exhibited at the John V. Hicks Gallery, Prince Albert, and the St. Thomas More Gallery, Saskatoon, as well as in the Kyla Art Group exhibition at the Mann Gallery, Prince Albert in 2014. She has also won awards at the Prince Albert Winter Festival. Her work is represented in the Permanent Collection of the Mann Art Gallery.
