Ernie Klinger makes abstract art with a minimalist aesthetic and a love of materials and process. Working in series, Ernie’s current production is usually monochromatic, often featuring heavily worked, multi-layered surfaces and repetitive mark making. Once started, the pieces are bit like a live music performance. They start with a general notion or direction but necessitate a constant interaction with the work as it progresses, making subtle adjustments and changes along the way.
Ernie Klinger has exhibited in numerous group, two person, and solo shows in galleries such as Rosemont Art Gallery, the Antechamber, University of Regina Faculty Club, Art Gallery of Regina, Mysteria Art Gallery, and Mata Art Gallery. His art has been reviewed and written about in newspaper articles and exhibition catalogues and is included in the Saskatchewan Arts Board permanent collection and in numerous private collections. Ernie lives in Regina, Saskatchewan.
